“The faster they undergo change the bigger the explosion”
Walter continues to get treatment and the side affects are getting really bad. (He shaves his head and pee’s orange.
Walter went back into business with Jessie. It’s Jessie’s job to sell, and Walters job to cook.
Jessie figures out that Walter has cancer
The cops found evidence from a cooking sight that points back to Walter’s school, and they arrest the janitor because he had a previous record, and evidence of drug use. Walter is off the hook for now, but feels bad.
Walter is unhappy about the rate of sales so Jessie finds a distributer. He goes to sell a pound to him (Tuco), but Tuco wants and IOU Jessie’s not down with that so Tuco beats him up and steels the meth
Walter gets pissed and goes to talk with Tuco himself. Blows up the room with an explosion and gets his money. The faster the change the bigger the explosion.
This is my last blog on the show breaking bad the theme for this episode and I think can be applied to the entire season that I have watched is “The faster they undergo change the bigger the explosion” in this show Walter said these words to his chemistry class. This is obviously true with chemistry (the result is shown at the end of the episode) However I think this has a ringing truth in the human life as well. Take Walter for example, he has completely changed from his pre cancerous self to the person he is now.  Now he is a force to be reckoned with.  He just went and got what he wanted from a high up drug distributer. Also with his treatment he when under significant change and it has affected his body a lot.
This theme seems to be true in a lot of cases large or small. But no matter what the change produces a response.  Even if the change is slow the object still changes. Such as rust, I think about when Jesus called the disciples to come and follow him that was a sudden change that drastically changed their life. But for me when I chose to follow the Lord it was a small/slow change.  Little by little my life shifted into now a completely different life than it was before (granted I was 4 years old) either way I think we sometimes disregard peoples slow change we are just looking for the explosion.

Grey Matter

In this episode of Breaking Bad  called “Grey Matter” Walter and Skylar go to a party for Walters old friend. Skylar tells Walters friend (Elliot) that Walter has cancer, and in turn Elliot offers Walt a job and the money for the treatment. Walter refuses both along with the treatment even though it would be paid for in full. Skylar facilitates an interventions for Walter so that he will get the treatment “Walter you need this treatment, and nothing can stop you from getting it except you.” Skylar. The intervention becomes a fiasco when her sister agrees with Walter to not do treatment.  Walter ends the session with the statement that he needs to make his own choice. He gives his reasoning and says, “I choose not to do it”  Then he changes his mind. He goes in for treatment But does not except the money.  He lies about the insurance.  But really he went back to Jessie.
Jessie has changed. He first tried to get a job and then diced to go back into making meth, but he has become a perfectionist. And gets a new partner.  The partner doesn’t work out because he does not have the same standards of “good crystal meth”  The episode ends with Walter asking Jessie, “you wanna cook?”
Two themes that I saw in this episode were,  family and choices.
Family is a theme because Skylar gets her family to back her up. Really what happened and what showed was that they all wanted the best for Walter, but the best for him looks different in everyone’s eyes.  Walter changes his mind because of his wife. Interesting how much the love of our family affects our choices.
Choices is a theme because Walter wants to have a choice of how he approaches the cancer situation. He wants to finish his life happy in his own home living his own life. He does not want to just survive. He want’s to life to the end of his life and not survive as a dead man. He ends up choosing to do the treatment and also go back to cooking meth.
I think that they way Skylar told Walter that the only thing that can stop him from the treatment iss himself. It’s the same with Christ.  Christ has freely given us our salvation (our life), and the only thing that can stop us from receiving it is ourselves. I think Elliot plays a savior role in this episode. He is offering his money as a choice for Walter. No strings attached nothing.  But in this case Walter does not except it. We will see how it turns out.

Walter Jr is accused of doing marijuana because His mom was asking vague questions about marijuana to his aunt. The Aunt send Walter Jr. uncle hank is sent to talk to him.
Walter is dealing with the other dealer that is chained to the basement poll. He makes a pro con list and the fact that he would kill his entire family is our weighing the rest of it. He tells the hostage that he has lung cancer. He hasn’t told anyone else.
He asks the hostage about himself and starts to get to know him. (Bad idea if you are trying to kill the guy) The hostage convinced Walter to let him go, but when Walter went to get the key he realized that the guy had gotten a weapon and was going to kill him. Walter went down stairs and strangled the guy.

What a concept to think that as we go about our daily lives people are struggling with the craziest of things. Walter has cancer and the only person that he told was the man that he killed. . . Walter was struggling with the decision of whether or not to kill someone. Obviously not all of our lives are as crazy as Walters, but who knows the people we walk by every single day!

Episode 2

Walter and his partner Jesse killed those two guys last episode and the bodies are in the RV. One of the guys wakes up, and the other body is starting to stink. Walter and Jesse obviously need to take some action. They are consumed with how to deal with these bodies. They take care of one of the bodies, but the guy that woke up is chained up in the basement of Jesse's house.
What stood out to me in this episode is Walters wife. She is obviously close to her husband so she knows when he begins to act differently, and he is obviously acting a little different.
I liked this part because it can relate to my life, and I'm sure many of y'alls too. It's important to have people close to us who are able to tell when we are acting weird. Not saying that we are all hiding a meth lab, but we all have our crap that we are hiding and even though we maybe able to pull it off to an extent. The people close to us are going to notice. My hope for myself is that the people I'm close to will be able to notice and call me out. My hope is that I let people get that close.

Breaking Bad Pilot

What a wonderful spring break it has been. I have been able to sleep in and watch lots of movies, so much fun! My friends took this class last semester and watched Breaking Bad for there television assignment. They would always talk about it, so that's the real reason I chose to watch this show so  I could be in the loop of my friends.
So far I love the show I think I'm on episode four now but let me just give you the run down on one, which is actually the pilot.
Walter white is our main guy. He's a chemistry teacher who due to an unexpected trip to the hospital found out that he has lung cancer and has about a year to live. Walter also has a wife, s son with a disability living at home, and another little bun in the oven. Walter knows that if he dies now he is not leaving his family with much.
Walter get a burst of confidence quits his job (at the car wash), and teams up with a former student who's occupation is now a dealer and cooker of meth.  Walter decides to put his skills and gift to work and make a little bit better salary then a teacher. Seems innocent, except he is now cooking the meth, and he gets him self in to a little bit of trouble. Right now he has killed a guy and is standing out in the desert in his underwear.

I don't know a lot about the drug systems in our country, but I can better understand where Walter was coming from. I can not speak out of experience, but I think that learning you have a terminal illness would spark something in you. We all know what it is like to want the best for someone, and knowing that you might die before they can get that is terrifying. I think that Walter is doing what he can to leave the best for his family.

First

Hi, I'm Andrea and this is my first blog :)
I created this blog for my Ministry and Culture class. To my understanding I am picking out a show to watch, and I will be doing reviews on it. The show that I'm choosing is "Breaking Bad" can't wait to start!
